Christmas, what a wonderful holiday. Christmas starts in winter on the 24th or the 25th of December. During this holiday, people have Christmas trees which are decorated with ornaments.On this special occasion you get presents and enjoy time with family and friends. Christmas is a Christian holiday. Christmas is actually supposed to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Mary was told by an angel that she should give birth to Jesus. Did you know that 3 million Christmas cards are sent in the USA each a year. Christmas trees have been sold in the USA since 1850. A traditional Christmas feast in England has stuffing, roast potatoes, turkey, pig and blankets, Yorkshire pudding, gravy, cranberry sauce and Brussels sprouts. Among sweet food eaten are gingerbread men, candy canes, sticky toffee pudding and sugar cookies. In December, a lot of Christmas songs and carols are played. In first place, is "All I want for Christmas" by Mariah Carey. In second place is "Fairytale of New York" by the pogues and Kirsty MacColl. In third place, comes Last Christmas" by Wham!. Rudolph was nearly called Reginald. Santa’s trademark is that he always wears red. An interesting fact is that spiders were in the eastern European culture a Christmas decoration. Alabama was the first state to officially notice Christmas in 1836.  


A Christmas tradition is to put actual candles on your Christmas tree. Most Christmas trees are grown on a farm and artificial Christmas trees are made in China. Have you ever wondered why green and red are traditional colours of Christmas? Red represents the blood of Jesus and green represents the evergreen tree. Christmas Eve is on the 24th of December and Chritmas Day is on the 25th of December. Christmas pudding was originally made with meat and not fruit, the same goes for minced pies. Decorating Christmas trees began in England in the 16th century. On Christmas Day or Christmas Eve, people open their presents which are underneath the tree. The first Christmas tree was made in Germany out of goose feathers and dyed green. Christmas actually last 12 days from the 24th of December, all the way to the 5th of January. In Japan on Christmas, they eat KFC. Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated every year and is very special. Jews and muslims and other religions do not celebrate Christmas. After reading this article, are you excited for Christmas?
