New Harry Potter documentary

It has been 20 years since the first Harry Potter movie – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - was released. On the first of January 2022, there will be a special available to watch on HBO Max in the USA.

In this documentary, the main actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who are all in their thirties now, will meet the American filmmaker Chris Columbus and talk with him and other Harry Potter actors about the famous movies. They meet to discuss what it was like filming the movies and what it is like to look back today. Radcliffe, Watson and Grint are joined by Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge) Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and many others.

J.K. Rowling, the author of the book series, will not be present. Recently, she has made negative headlines regarding some questionable opinions she has expressed. There will be footage from the archives featuring the author who was involved in the process of making the movies.

The HBO Max special was announced exactly 20 years after the US release of the first film on 16 November 2001. The first Harry Potter book was published in 1997, four years before the release of the first movie.

Unfortunately, it is not yet sure when it will be released in the UK but hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long.
