Stranger Things

Stranger Things is an American science-fiction-horror-drama-tv-show set in the 1980s. It was created by Mat and Ross Duffer, also known as the Duffer brothers. The first season of Stranger Things was released on Netflix in July 2016, and the second season in October 2017. The third season was released in the summer of 2019 and, due to Covid, the fourth season three years later. In February 2022 it was confirmed that Stranger Things is being renewed for a fifth and final season.

Actors include Winona Ryder, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven/Jane Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, and Matthew Modine as Dr Martin Brennerand.

Stranger Things is inspired by a true story. The show was originally called 'Montauk' and took inspiration from an alleged US Military programme named The Montauk Project which allegedly, included experiments on children involving mind reading, mind control and time travel. The show can be relatable because they navigate relationships, identity, and the trials and tribulations of growing up.

Stranger Things is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s. Close to the town is Hawkin's lab, where scientists run scientifical experiments for the USA Department of Energy. What the residents of Hawkins don’t know is that the lab experiments with the paranormal and supernatural, sometimes even human subjects. Hawkin's lab has created a portal to another dimension which affects the residents of Hawkins and paranormal things start to happen to a young boy named Will Byers who goes missing with no trace. While his friends (Mike, Dustin and Lucus) ignore the police’s warning to not go outside to look for Will, they do it anyway and what they find is shocking: A girl, about their age in the pouring rain all alone. After they bring her back to one of their houses, she still does not say a word. That is the iconic opening scene in season one.

Stranger Things has reminded people of what the world was like before the invention of smartphones, endless TV shows, movies, and video games. It taught us to never lie to our friends with the famous catchphrase that Eleven says "Friends don’t lie”. Officially the minimum age rating is 15, because of the many sci-fi and horror influences; the predominant classification issues in Stranger Things are sequences of threat and violence. One of the reasons Stranger Things is so popular is because the creators use sounds, sights, and the feeling of the 80s to draw in viewers. Another reason is the cleverly written script. There are also interesting aspects around science and mystery, like the possibility of different dimensions, which is extremely fascinating.

Stranger Things is the most streamed television series in 2022. I think this is an amazing television series to watch if you are looking for something slightly scary, mysterious and drama filled.
