The history of Mcdonalds

Mcdonalds is one of the most famous restaurants in the entire world. It is known for its burgers, fries and different sandwiches that are sold for cheap prices. There are over 36,000 restaurants all over the world, making it a global fast-food chain. McDonalds' success as a company is enormous but how did the company start?

Mcdonalds was founded in the 1940s by the brothers Richard Mcdonald and Maurice Mcdonald. They started the company with a drive-in restaurant in San Bernadino where customers would be served by waitresses bringing their food to their car. In this Restaurant mainly burgers, fries and hot dogs were sold. Later on, in 1948 the brothers redesigned the restaurant and introduced the Speedee Service System wich allowed customers to get their order in seconds. This was a huge success and Mcdonalds opened its first restaurant outside of California in 1955. In the 1960s Mcdonalds continued to expand their restaurants in international places such as Puerto Rico and Europe. In the 1970s and 1980s Mcdonalds continued to grow and introduced menu items such as Big Macs and the Happy meal.

Today, even though they get a lot of criticism due to their unhealthy meals, Mcdonalds continues to grow and be loved by millions of people everyday.
